The Last King of Scotland (R)

Amazing! Forest Whitaker, James McAvoy, Kerri Washington ... all great. I had to close my eyes during a few gory scenes (would you expect any less from General Amin?) but otherwise I was riveted.

A newly minted Scottish doctor decides to flee his certain-to-be-dull future and have an adventure. He lands in 1970 Uganda (that made him sound like a time traveler!) and quickly moves from tending to the poor to tending to the newly installed president, Idi Amin. His fantasy world turns into a prison and he has to stop playing and figure out how to escape.
