Perfume (R)

Wow! This was probably the most unexpected, most interesting, most captivating movie I've seen in a year (probably since Capote). I'd read a bit about it when it was being promoted (I don't think it was heavily promoted by any stretch) and was intrigued without knowing much about the story. In fact, I didn't even notice the subtitle "The Story of a Murderer" until we'd finished it. Being so in the dark was delicious, especially with a movie so dark and so NOT delicious. The movie is about one man's sense of smell and while the movie itself is odorless it uses colors and images and music brilliantly to tell the story of the ultimate perfume. I might have to go read the novel now.

Dreamgirls --A

Fun, good, not too much music as some recent musicals have gone overboard. Beyonce was not annoying. Jennifer Hudson was AMAZING, her voice is crazy good. Jamie Foxx I think could have done better. Whenever Eddie Murphy sang all I could see was the donkey from Shrek. 4 bouffont hairdos out of 5.

Live Free or Die Hard (R)

Rad! It was like watching an action movie in 1992. You had Bruce Willis, hokey computer talk, improbable action scenes and funny lines. It was awesome!!

4.5 amazingly agile F-35s out of 5!!
