The Boondock Saints -A

This was a Sean pick and man did he have high hopes. Netflix users rated it 4.5 out of 5 stars! IMDB rates it 7.7 out of 10. Stars Sean Patrick Flanery, William Dafoe. It's about 2 Irish brothers from the wrong side of the tracks. 2 hot guys speaking with Irish accents? Hell, yeah I will give it a watch. The 2 brothers become vigilantes and William Dafoe is the cop 1 step behind. William Dafoe's character was ....interesting. He was a hard -ss, dry, quick humor, gay, who through the movie turns way flamboyant. The movie was OK. Funny that these guys were so good as taking out professional hit men and bad guys with no previous experience. Watch the cat and mouse game and then the tables turn and who is on who's side now. We both thought is was ok. No 4.5 stars though, I mean the brothers are rockin hot without shirts on but come on that was only like 20 mintues out of the whole movie. 2 blarney stones out of 5.

You, Me, and Dupree -A

Had to turn it off before it was over. Kate Hudson, Matt Dillon (who is aging into a real hottie), Owen Wilson, Michael Douglas. What a waste of time! Not funny, beyond predictable, how did they get this cast to do this movie? It wasn't painful to watch it just didn't pull you in or give you a reason to keep watching because you already knew how it was going to end. 1 hour into the movie Sean mentioned how neither of us have laughed yet. It started as a romantic comedy and then morphed into a serious theme, not necessarily a bad thing but if I sit down for a romanitc comedy that is what I want dang it! The misguided loser friend moves in with the attractive, young, newlyweds. Several misguided mishaps ensue but they do not endear you to the Dupree character like I think is intended, at least it was lost on me if so. No idea how it ends and do not care. 1 naked Owen Wilson -ss out of 5

The Black Dahlia -A

Holy Smokers! Again with Josh Harnett, Aaron Eckhart, Hilary Swank, Scarlett Johanssen, and Marlboros. They obviously tried to film this like this like a 1940's murder mystery. Heard mixed reviews but go in empty minded. They could have made it shorter (2 hr running time). There is tons of dialogue, not a lot of action. They saved all the who done it for the very end and then....can't say it the way i want or it will give it away. They totally did rip off a famous black and white film to tie up the ending, though. The thing with the smoking! Every scene you could predict who would have dialogue because they would light up. After a while I have to think that they took it over the edge on purpose and made it an inside joke to have a character smoking all the time! My lungs hurt after watching this movie. 3 non filter ciggies out of 5.

Lucky Number Slevin - A

The only reason I rented this was because I heard good things. Not a fan of Josh Harnett, also starred Lucy Lui (love her), Morgan Freeman, Bruce Willis, and Ben Kinglsey. About mistaken identy and how to get out of it. Josh was not annoying for me! There are TONS of twists and turns and who do you trust? They did not save all the twists for the end but kinda spoon fed them to you as you went along, and that worked for me! Lucy Lui's character was so fun loving and nutty and it made me want to be her. Good movie for him and her. 4 bookies out of 5.

Stranger Than Fiction (R)

Except for Emma Thompson spitting into a tissue (ick!), I give it 4.8 half-eaten apples out of 5. Great performances by all: Thompson (minus the spitting), Will Farrell, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Dustin Hoffman. Loved it!
