Freedomland -A

I remember seeing the trailer for this and thinking I wanted to see this. Thankfully I didn't spend any money and we saw this On Demand. Julianna Moore (whom I love) and Samuel Jackson. She claims to be carjacked and her son was in the car. Samuel is the cop assigned to the case. The plot was difficult to follow, the editing was a mishmash (real technical I know) and they tried to make her kind of ghetto drug addict mom. It was filled with racial tension that was supposed to add to the drama but I don't think it accomplished that. They told you want happened within the first 30 minutes so you just had to sit and watch it unfold. Not worth the time. 1 motherf-er out of 5.

Lady in the Water -A

It was original, so needless to say I liked it! I hadn't heard any really good reviews so my expectations were low. The characters were clever and it was fun trying to put the plot together. The lady was great at being somewhat creepy but in an innocent way. The evil creature was well thought out and I they did a very good visual on the screen when they created him. 3.5 nymphs out of 5

Talladega Nights The Legend of Rickie Bobby -A

Not as good as I hoped it would be. Will Ferrell was funny but they resorted to boob humor and I don't know, it lost it's appeal. It seemed a little longer then it had to be. I thought the French race car driver was really funny, Sean pointed out that it is the guy who does Borat. 2 shake and bakes out of 5

Undertaking Betty - A

Takes place in England. Boy never asked girl to dance, girl marries the wrong boy and is unhappy, original boy pines for girl. His chance has come, girl can fake her death to be with the right man. Girl finds out her husband was a cheating dog the whole time and decides now that she is 'dead' she can seek revenge. It is clever and fun, watched with the hubby and my mom. 2.5 caskets out of 5

Cars -A

Very cute. Good moral to the story. Had to look up who the voice of Chick was, was making me crazy. Thank goodness for wireless laptops, didn't have to leave the couch. (Michael Keaton). 4 out of 5 stickers.

American Dreamz -A

Hugh Grant and Mandy Moore and Dennis Quaid. Spoof on Prez George W, terrorist training camps and American Idol. Not slap stick but they make their point. I didn't hate it, I laughed out loud a few times. I didn't love it, but it kept me entertained through the whole movie. Sean watched with me and did not hate it either. I gotta give this 2.5 Omers out of 5

Casino Royal-ohmygod (R)

I slept with James Bond last night. Granted, my Bond is 6'5" and drives a Dodge Durango, but STILL. After seeing Casino Royale, what could I do but lust for Bond?

Sexy-sweet moment? Bond sucking Vesper's fingers in the shower.

I didn't think he'd be my type, this Bond fellow. I'm normally into neither spies nor blondes. But lately I'm craving Cruises and Craigs and I'm just not sure what to make of that.

What the hell: Five bloody tears out of five!

Friends With Money - A

Brought this one on the road with me and watched on my computer one night. I liked how they broke the film into segments dealing with each couple. Agree with Robin (spt 06 review) about Aniston, no Oscar for her but thought everyone else did a good job. Was the Brit really gay or just affeminate, he appeared to really love his wife and maybe Katherine Keener was simply jealous? Thought he was for sure in the beginning and maybe changed my mind by the end. It felt like they had the 3 couples established and Aniston decided she wanted to be in it so they wrote that part for her. LOVED the husband line "You were the prettiest one there tonight". swoon. 3 maids out of 5.

My Super Ex Girlfriend - A

Watched this one on the plane from DC to Denver. Luke Wilson, Uma Thurman, Dwight from The Office and the girl from every Scary Movie and now Just Friends. Not bad for a plane ride, helped me pass the time. Did laugh a couple of times. I think it tried to be rauchy at some points that was not necessary. I liked the idea (because it had not been done 5 times already). Very predictable ending. I give it 2.5 super girl capes out of 5.

Re Monster House - A

Watched it Friday night after flying, literally, all day. Fortunate enought to fall asleep half way through. Did they think kids would like that? Bad Bad Bad - A

Superman (R)

Why didn't anyone tell me this movie is sixteen hours long? And, judging by the oh-so-subtle way they guaranteed a sequel, I imagine Superman Jr. could hit the twenty-hour mark.

Kevin Spacey rocked and Parker Posey cracked me up. Otherwise they should have cut it down to 90 minutes, made Lois go down on Superman, and called it a day.

I have a thing for Phillip Seymour Hoffman (R)

We rented Mission: Impossible III this weekend and I mostly enjoyed it. My favorite part was wondering if Tom Cruise requires that his costars be shorter than he is and my favorite character was Davian (sp?) played by PSH. Have I mentioned Capote to you all? I think it's been my favorite film this year and I highly recommend it. Hoffman is damn impressive whether he's playing M:I III's bad guy or immersed in a little killing in Kansas.
