Chicks on Movies

Jamie August 29, 2006 (Hostel)

I get it. Sex and violence sells but this was too much. My issue was not with the sex and nudity but the gore. I was physically ill after watching this movie (literally had stomach aches). Maybe I have turned a corner in my adult life where Q.T. does not do it for us anymore. I loved and own Reservior Dogs but this was, for the most part, boring and just too gross. The twist was sort of interesting but it didn't need to be so bloody and disgusting to get the point across. Not worth it.

I felt the same way about Wolf Creek. It made me sick to my stomach and extremely sad that some group of people on this planet had the idea to write it and felt the need to create it. I couldn't get it off my mind for days.

I applaud QT for actually making an original movie BUT (and there always is one, insert any butt humor here)the gore was unnecessary. I thought it could have been a better movie if he only dropped hints on about the torture and then let the human brain fill in the rest. We all have our own pain limits so he should have used that to his advantage. Bummer about WolfCreek, that was on my list.
